Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 26, 2026

Overview

DejaView is a macOS application that transforms your Apple Photos albums or hard-drive folders into photo streams served over your local network. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

Data Collection

DejaView does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

  • No analytics or tracking of any kind
  • No crash reporting to external servers
  • No user accounts or registration
  • No cloud uploads or external API calls
  • No advertising or third-party integrations

DejaView can stream photos from Apple Photos or directly from folders you select on your hard drive. Apple Photos permission is only requested if you choose Apple Photos as a source.

  • Read-Only Access: DejaView never modifies, deletes, or writes to your Photos library or selected folders
  • Apple Photos Optional: Folder-based streaming works without Apple Photos access
  • Local Processing Only: All photo processing happens on your Mac
  • No Cloud Uploads: Your photos are never uploaded to any external server
  • No Copies Made: Photos are served directly from your selected source without creating duplicates

Local Network Server

DejaView runs a local HTTP/HTTPS server to serve photos to devices on your network.

  • Local Network Only: The server is only accessible from your local network
  • No Internet Exposure: DejaView does not expose your photos to the internet
  • Your Control: You choose which albums or folders to share and can stop the server at any time

Data Storage

DejaView stores minimal configuration data locally on your Mac:

  • User Defaults: App preferences (port settings, HTTPS configuration, stream definitions) are stored in macOS User Defaults
  • Certificates: If you enable HTTPS, self-signed certificates are stored in ~/.dejaview/ on your Mac
  • No External Storage: No data is stored on external servers

Third-Party Services

DejaView does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or libraries that collect user data.

Children's Privacy

DejaView does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date above.
